Our town’s communication links are -; steadily -; beginning to improve.

Making the case for better links for Wrexham has taken time, but the work that has been put in is starting to pay off. Virgin Media’s work to link our town up to their high-speed cable network is increasingly visible and I’ve noticed a number of constituents commenting about it taking place.

That private sector investment is happening alongside the broadband investment, something I have discussed with both Welsh Government Ministers and Openreach.

Between the two, we are seeing a growth in options and choices for local residents and businesses when it comes to communications links -; a choice which will drive forward those links and help boost them further.

Those changes are in stark contrast to the position across the border. Only this week, the Conservative representing the neighbouring Eddisbury constituency complained in the House of Commons that because of the failure of the UK Government to support businesses in rural areas, a firm had moved to Wrexham to take advantage of our industrial estate’s broadband links.

We need to be doing all we can to attract investment into Wrexham, and better broadband links are a key part of that package. The work that has been put into boosting our infrastructure is beginning to have an effect.

The key now will be keeping up that momentum -; we can do more for our town, and we will.
