North Wales needs to grasp the importance of investing in our digital infrastructure to compete in the global economy.
That’s the message I’ll be setting out to conference delegates tomorrow.
As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Mersey-Dee North Wales Region I will be speaking at the Full Fibre Conference at Wrexham Glyndwr University, where I’ll be speaking on the importance of digital connectivity to North Wales -; and the role it should play if the North Wales Growth Deal proceeds later this Spring.
The conference, organised by the Deeside Business Forum, will bring together key politicians, businesspeople and technology experts to examine ways to boost digital infrastructure across North Wales.
I am very grateful to Askar Sheibani, who has worked so hard to set it up.
It’s vitally important that we make sure our digital infrastructure equips our businesses to compete – our communications networks are as important nowadays as our transport networks.
This conference will be an important part of building the case for the major investment and large-scale infrastructure projects North Wales will need to compete in the digital world.
As I say in my speech: “The modern regional economy demands proper infrastructure of it is to succeed and there is a huge opportunity for this wonderful region if we put the right infrastructure in place. If we do not, then it will be very difficult to compete in a post-Brexit world. That is why today and the weeks ahead are so very important.”
