I’VE MET Wales’ newest Minister Stuart Andrew to talk about the importance of our growth bid with him.
The meeting comes before next week’s Spring Statement, where Chancellor Phillip Hammond will update Parliament on the latest forecasts for the British economy. The statement will be followed later this year by the Government’s full budget.
We are moving closer to the North Wales Growth Bid becoming a reality. The Mersey-Dee North Wales All Party Group, which I chair, wanted to meet Mr Andrew before next week’s Spring Statement so he could update us on the work he is doing to help make the Bid a success.
We discussed the importance of setting up the right structures to deliver some of the major infrastructure projects which are contained in the Growth Bid proposals, and how important preparation will be in delivering the projects involved in the Bid.
I wanted to make clear to Mr Andrew -; a politician who has previously worked in North Wales -; how important it was for the Government to ensure they work to make our Growth Bid a success. I’m glad he met us today -; and I look forward to working alongside him to secure the best for North Wales in the coming months.
