A system failing Wrexham people

I’ve worked with local groups to draft a reply to a Government consultation about helping people with disabilities find work.

I also spoke about the way the system is causing problems for Wrexham people in a debate in Parliament yesterday – you can see my question here: https://goo.gl/jiuq1o

One thing which was very clear in the submissions from local organisations when we worked on our response to the Green Paper was a feeling that the current system just isn’t working.

The feeling was that the current, target-driven culture for assessing people with disabilities works against the very people it should be helping.

That is very clear to me in cases I see in Wrexham, where people are raising problems with the current system week in, week out. That system has to change, and I will continue working with local people to change it.
