Further work for better broadband

I’ve brought a broadband chief to Wrexham to discuss improving our town’s communications links.

I invited Clive Selley, the CEO of BT infrastructure arm Openreach, to the town by as part of my ongoing work to improve communications infrastructure in North Wales. Mr Selley and his team discussed a range of issues with me, including ways of boosting broadband connections for the town, wider communications issues – and specific constituency cases involving individuals or businesses.

I wanted to sit down and speak to Clive and his team face to face – it’s the best way to find out what is working, what isn’t, and what we can do about it.

It was a very positive meeting and I got a real sense that some of the issues we have been raising about broadband and about connections locally are being heard. I would like to thank Clive and his team for coming to Wrexham and for taking such an interest.

I’m pleased to have been able to welcome both Openreach and Virgin Media to meetings in Wrexham in the past few months, and I am very pleased that both companies are sitting up, taking notice of our town, and investing in new infrastructure locally.
