I'm still backing the ban

I'm still backing the foxhunting ban - and spoke with campaigners about it in Parliament.

I attended a Parliamentary reception for the League, met with President Bill Oddie and discussed a number of animal welfare issues. The League are currently campaigning for stronger sentences for crimes involving cruelty to animals – something which I was pleased to lend his support to.

I’m still committed to the ban on foxhunting.

The move by the Conservatives during this year’s election campaign to allow a vote on bringing back foxhunting generated a strong reaction in Wrexham. Almost as soon as Theresa May had floated the possibility, I had people contacting me to oppose any change to the law and to ask me to vote to keep the ban.

I’ve been a long term backer of the ban on fox hunting, and was happy to tell them then – and to re-confirm now – that I back the ban.
