Loneliness and its impact

I’m asking people in Wrexham to think about the impact loneliness has on their community.

It follows the release of a Red Cross report which you can see here: http://www.redcross.org.uk/lonely

Loneliness is an issue that affects more people than most of us realise.

In Wrexham, I have taken part in specific events – such as working with Contact the Elderly to help put on events for older people.

However, the Red Cross report reminds us that there are groups of all ages where people can be affected by loneliness.

There are different key triggers, such as becoming a young mum, bereavement, or log-term health issues, which affect people right across our community.

I know I have a role to play in helping people and making sure they get the support they deserve – but all of us, throughout the community, should be aware of the impact of loneliness – and do what we can to help people who are affected.
