Public Space Protection Order

police.jpgI know a lot of people in Wrexham are concerned about anti social behaviour.
I share those concerns, and welcomed news that the council had brought in a Public Space Protection Order.
However, in order for the PSPO to work it must be enforced properly. That is why I have been raising the issue of police community support officer powers in Westminster, and why I have asked both Wrexham Council and North Wales Police to look at what they are currently doing – and what more can be done to help.

I also think that members of the public have a role to play, and I would urge anyone who witnesses incidents to call 101 and let the police know – I have done this myself and staff from my office have done too.
It is obviously harder to respond to incidents if they are not logged, and all incident reports help the police to build up a picture of what issues are affecting areas.
It is also essential that we have services in place and signposted for those who seek to address problems of addiction and drug use. We need to give help.
Everyone has their role to play - it is by working together that we can best tackle these problems.
