I was pleased to hear Wrexham Council finally voted to give formal backing to the Growth Track 360 plans this week.
The plans are a series of proposals for an interlinked transport system across North Wales and North West England, something I have been working on hard in Parliament.
The more voices that speak out from North Wales the better, so I am glad that the council has voted to give these plans their formal support at last.
One of the keys to making the case to Ministers in the Department of Transport and the Wales Office is showing we have a broad range of support from across North Wales – from business groups, transport organisations and local authorities.
That is why the council’s decision today is so welcome.
I’ve previously met with Government Ministers, including the then Chancellor, with North East Wales councillors – if any councillors from Wrexham want to come down to speak to Ministers, I’m more than willing to help set something up.
I’ll continue making the case to Ministers in the Commons chamber, and reminding them that this project won’t just need their warm words – but also their financial support.
