AN MP is elected to represent their constituents and do their best for their constituency.

Representing Wrexham means promoting the town and the interests of its people. I aim for my work at Westminster to help achieve this.

I press persistently for improvements in Wrexham. I work with individuals, trade unions, businesses and community organisations to secure benefits for the town.

Examples of current campaigns are for upgrade work to be done on the rail line linking Wrexham to Bidston, (and from there to Liverpool).

I support manufacturing in the town and work closely with the successful Wrexham Industrial Estate Business Forum. I welcome the continuing development of hi-tech industries in Wrexham such as pharmaceuticals and renewable energy. I have many constituents employed in the aerospace industry both at Airbus UK in the next-door constituency and in companies based in Wrexham.

I have worked with supporters’ groups and national football authorities to help save Wrexham Football Club - one of the major reasons why outsiders have heard of the town. I link in to community groups representing the people of Wrexham and respond to issues raised with me by them and by my individual constituents.

I have a special interest in community policing and supported the introduction of community support officers when it was opposed by the local Chief Constable. Wrexham’s community policing – with named police officers for each council ward – is a model other towns and cities plan to follow.

My special interests are microgeneration technologies (solar power cells are made in Wrexham) and transport. I want to ensure that Wrexham’s economic success is developed into making Wrexham a sustainable town with power and transport systems that add to, not reduce, the quality of life.

I am generally in Wrexham at the weekends, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. As much as possible, I like to spend this time out and about visiting places of work, schools and all kinds of local groups.
